How to Attempt This Paper
- 1
Part B has 100 questions for 100 marks with ¼ negative marking — accuracy is more important than speed.
- 2
Start with the subject you are strongest in to build confidence and secure easy marks early.
- 3
For Reasoning (25 marks), spend no more than 60–70 seconds per question. If a question takes longer, mark it and return.
- 4
In GK & Current Affairs (25 marks), answer what you know confidently and skip what you are unsure of — wrong answers cost 1.25 marks net.
- 5
ICT questions (8 marks) are straightforward — attempt all of them first if ICT is a strength.
- 6
Reserve 10 minutes at the end to review marked questions and ensure your answer sheet is complete.
Preparation Tips
Reasoning & Mental Ability (25 marks) is the biggest section in Part B. Practice series, analogies, and data interpretation daily. A score of 20+ here can make a decisive difference on the merit list.
GK & Current Affairs (25 marks) requires a consistent revision habit. Read one newspaper daily and maintain a current affairs digest. Focus on Punjab government schemes, national events, and science & technology news.
Punjab History & Culture (17 marks) is a high-return subject. Cover Sikh history in depth — the ten Gurus, the formation of the Khalsa, the Anglo-Sikh Wars, and Punjab's post-1947 reorganisation are the most tested topics.
Negative marking of ¼ applies to every wrong answer in Part B. Your effective score per question is either +1 (correct), 0 (unattempted), or −0.25 (wrong). Only attempt if your confidence is above ~30%.
ICT carries 8 marks and is tested at a basic level. Revise MS Office operations, internet security concepts, and Punjab e-governance portals (like Seva Kendra, Suwidha). These are reliable, scorable marks.
