How to Attempt This Paper
- 1
Start with Child Development & Pedagogy — it is purely concept-based and builds momentum.
- 2
In the Language sections, attempt the comprehension passage first while reading speed is high, then tackle pedagogy questions.
- 3
For Mathematics, avoid spending more than 1 minute per question. If stuck, mark and return.
- 4
EVS questions are often application-based and tied to NCERT Class 1–5 content — trust your reading.
- 5
Since there is no negative marking, attempt every question. Never leave a blank.
- 6
Reserve the last 10 minutes to revisit marked questions and fill any remaining blanks.
Preparation Tips
Child Development & Pedagogy is 30 marks and entirely theory-based. Revise Piaget, Vygotsky, Kohlberg, and RTE Act 2009 first — at least 10–12 questions come directly from these topics.
Language I (Punjabi) and Language II (English) are split 50/50 between comprehension and pedagogy. Read one unseen passage daily and revise pedagogical terms like "scaffolding", "language acquisition", and "remedial teaching".
For Mathematics, read NCERT Class 1–5 textbooks. Questions are concept-based and directly aligned — number sense, shapes, measurement, and data handling are the most tested areas.
EVS in Paper 1 covers Family, Food, Shelter, Travel, and Plants & Animals from NCERT Class 3–5. Understand the integrated approach to EVS and know how it connects to Science and Social Science.
No negative marking in PSTET Paper 1 — always attempt every question, even if uncertain. A random guess has a 25% chance of being correct.
