How to Attempt This Paper

  1. 1

Part B has 100 questions for 100 marks with ¼ negative marking — accuracy matters more than speed.

  2. 2

Begin with your strongest subject to score easy marks confidently before moving to harder topics.

  3. 3

For Reasoning (25 marks), limit yourself to 60–70 seconds per question. Mark and skip if stuck.

  4. 4

In GK & Current Affairs, answer only what you know with confidence — wrong answers cost 1.25 marks net.

  5. 5

ICT (8 marks) is generally straightforward — attempt the full section if it is a strength.

  6. 6

Reserve the last 10 minutes to revisit marked questions and check your answer sheet.

Preparation Tips

1

Reasoning & Mental Ability (25 marks) is the highest-weighted section. Practice series, analogies, coding-decoding, and data interpretation every day. Strong performance here is the key differentiator on the merit list.

2

GK & Current Affairs (25 marks) rewards consistent study. Read one newspaper daily and compile a monthly current affairs summary. Prioritise Punjab government news, national events, and science & technology.

3

Punjab History & Culture (17 marks) is a focused, high-return subject. Cover Sikh history in depth — the Gurus, Khalsa, Anglo-Sikh Wars, and post-1947 Punjab reorganisation are most frequently tested.

4

Negative marking of ¼ applies in Part B. Calculate before guessing: if fewer than 4 options are eliminable, it is safer to skip than risk losing 0.25 marks. Every unnecessary wrong answer hurts.

5

ICT carries 8 marks at a basic level. Revise MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), internet fundamentals, and Punjab e-governance services like Seva Kendra and Suwidha portals to pick up reliable marks.
